I can always count on you for a bright, optimistic outlook Michael. 😉

The ironically named United States of America has been what many people would consider a third world country for a while. Especially looking at the wealth inequality, health care system, and much more. Is the country on the brink of collapse? Depends how one defines said collapse. It could be argued different ways. I feel like the country has collapsed quite a bit already.

At the very least, we're in a pretty bad situation at the moment.

Yes, some people are fleeing. Understandably so.

Many others are staying. Some because they have to. Others because they want to.

Will a general strike work? Possibly. Are we heading for a civil war? Possible, but doubtful. Will AI create a more dire situation for many? Remains to be seen.

I think our best bet is clear out the illegal and illegitimate fascist regime we currently have. Preferably by legal and bloodless means. Then get enough younger, more progressive people into office and pass reforms to the system to make it much better than it is. Get money out of politics, universal health care and basic income, and more. In short, catch up with the rest of the world, or at least Europe and Scandinavia.

Is this possible? Yes. Likely? Tough call. Hopefully, this glimpse of a more dystopian future wakes up enough people to push us forward.

A tall order, but certainly not impossible.

No matter what, we have a long road ahead.

Of course, if a super volcano or two erupted, or a few large asteroids hit us, that could change the dynamics a bit. 😉

Anyway, we'll see how it goes. I'm staying hopeful.

You are excellent Michael. Your content is superb. I consider myself fortunate to have found your work here. It’s a matter of life and death for me, and that’s not hyperbole. I’m not wealthy, and I can’t pick up and leave the US. I’m going to fit your work into my budget. You have to keep the lights on after all.

Please take good care of yourself and your family. You are needed.

As always, No crumbs. I don't really have anything to add to this article or any insight. It's all just a dread isn't it?

I can lend some insight as far as the hashtags.. I asked a couple of the GPTs about that and they all said with Substack: put them in the settings and don't worry about putting them in the body.
